MAPPPD version 5.0 includes a full redesign of the interface to modernize. On the backend we have added updated security and checks on data quality, and and now added a full API for accessing the data.
Data extend to the 2025/2026 breeding season.

Use the tabs under Find sites by to choose how to search. Hover over any point on the map to see the site name; click it to see a summary card.
Click a point on the map to list that site under Results.
Draw an area on the map and find every site inside it. See How the area tool works in that tab for details.
Type part of a site name (e.g. “Petermann”) or its four-letter code (e.g. “PETE”). You can select several sites.
Choose one or more CCAMLR subareas. A map of the subareas is available from CCAMLR.
Choose one or more species to find every site where they breed.
Sites found are highlighted on the map and listed in the panel. Use Show on map to zoom to a site, Site summary to open its counts, chart and trends, and Download these results for a CSV of their counts.
Draw your own area on the map to find every penguin site inside it, for example around a stretch of coastline or an island group.
Turns on drawing. Click on the map to add each corner of your area. While drawing, hovering over a site won't show its name.
Double-click to place the last corner, or click on your first corner to close the shape. Drawing a new area replaces the previous one.
Lists every site inside the area under Results and highlights them on the map. This also turns drawing off.
On a phone or tablet, tap to add corners and tap your first corner to finish.
